The Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership (CIPL) -- developed and sponsored by the Prichard Committee -- has trained an army of more than 1,500 Kentucky parents on how to advocate effectively for their children's educations.
The program has been so successful that seven other states and Washington, D.C. have adopted it to help improve their schools too.
The purpose of CIPL is to:
- Educate parents about how to assess the progress of their children's schools;
- Inform parents how to become involved as partners in improving those schools;
- Motivate parents to help other parents become involved; and
- Support parents after they become involved.
