High standards prepare students for college and careers

The Prichard Committee works to ensure that all facets of Kentucky’s education system signal high expectations for each student.

Central to this cause is support for effective implementation of higher academic standards in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and other subjects that reflect the knowledge, skills, and practices that students need to be prepared for success in college and careers.

The Committee supports high-quality, aligned assessments that promote and measure student learning of higher academic standards, with clear benchmarks for performance tied to college and career readiness.

Finally, the Committee supports high school graduation requirements that ensure all students graduate with exposure to the full range of Kentucky’s higher academic standards and with experiences that put them on a strong path toward success in college and careers.
