Shawn Lyons joined the staff of the Prichard Committee for the second time in December of 2023, having served as Director of Development from 1993-1995. He was a Prichard Committee Member prior to joining the staff. During his career of over 40 years encouraging philanthropic support for non-profit organizations, Shawn also has served as the Chief Development Officer at Washington College (MD), the Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation, Centre College and Transylvania University. Shawn and his wife, Eileen, live in Lexington and have a blended family that includes eight children and four grandchildren. When he’s not encouraging donors to support The Prichard Committee, Shawn is an avid golfer and enjoys collecting reptiles and glass art.
Since 1983, the Prichard Committee has worked to study priority issues, inform the public and policy makers about best practices and mobilize citizens, business leaders, families, students, and other stakeholders in a shared mission to move Kentucky to the top tier of all states for education excellence and for all children, from their earliest years through postsecondary education.
