On this, the Inauguration Day of our 46th President, I’ve reflected on the power of citizen engagement to shape our future. From the election of a President, to the election of Congressional, state and community leaders, our right to vote and the commitment of a peaceful transition is the foundation of our Democratic Republic. Today, America showed that those ideals are still strong and very present.

The right to vote was hard won by many in our country, as recent as the coming of age of our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. So, today, as the first woman, and a Black and Asian-American, was sworn in by a Hispanic-Latina Supreme Court Justice, I celebrated at the witness of our founding values: E Pluribus Unum – Out of Many, One. America and Kentucky, needs leaders of all genders, races, ethnicities, and political persuasions to ensure a strong and united future.

I am hopeful that in the weeks, months, and years to come, we will each work to realize a future where every person can thrive, contribute to, and benefit from our shared progress. Together, community by community, we have the power to build a Groundswell for a Big Bold Future for Kentucky – and for our nation.

Congratulations President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris.
