Spencer was born and raised in Louisville and is an alum of Transylvania University where he studied English and Education. After a rewarding experience teaching middle school in his hometown, he is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Education Policy and Evaluations at the University of Kentucky, focusing on legislative and judicial issues that affect K-12 education. Spencer is passionate about ensuring a better and more equitable education for all Kentucky children as a policy manager for the Prichard Committee. In addition to studying ed policy, he enjoys bar trivia and learning about niche fields of study such as Vexillology (the study of flags). Much to his mother’s chagrin, he has nine tattoos so far.

Fun fact about Spencer: At age 22 he found out that there was a typo on his Social Security card and several of his friends still call him Spenger.
