Prichard Committee hosts online forum on the education impact of COVID-19
On Monday, March 16, the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence hosted a Facebook Live conversation about the education impact of COVID-19. Prichard Committee President and CEO Brigitte Blom Ramsey facilitated a discussion on the impact of closures in all levels of education daycare, K-12 schools, colleges and universities.
“During these unprecedented times, we feel that parents, students, educators and community members all have many questions,” said Ramsey. “We’ve assembled a panel of education and behavior experts to explore these questions and concerns and hope that this conversation will lead to other community-based discussions throughout the state.”
During the event, panelists discussed what families can do to ensure learning is taking place during this time. They also discussed how to talk to children about COVID-19, and how to ensure students with food insecurities, lack of internet access and other special needs are cared for at this time.
